| I found that the easiest and cheapest way to mod you case for maximum cooling is not buying new fans but cutting out the air flow restrictions. I lowered my case temp by 9 Celcius, that's like 16 degrees Farenheit difference! That in turn lowered all temps, CPU & RAM. I used a roto-zip tool to cut between the holes on my case where the back fan mounts, now the fan is actually silent and it moves all the air it can. I found that most of the fan noise is due to air flow resistance causing pressure against the bearings in the fan. This is the BEST case mod you can do, hands down. Note: Wear leather gloves, eye protection, take your MOBO out of the case, Take the case outside due to metal or plastic shavings. ![]() I'm sorry but I think I posted this in the wrong way, I 'm still new to the forum thing Last edited by gvblake22; December 26th, 2007 at 07:05. | Modder-ator | DrecanDeath, I totally agree with you. That is one of the simplest, most effective mods you can do to a case. And your post looks fine, thanks for sharing the pics and welcome to HardwareLogic! :wavey: |

| Colonel Calamity | wow I would move that memory to the other 2 slots... I would not be comfortable having a fan moving that close to the memory Welcome to HL! ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| That's a great way to increase airflow in to case, and it looks better too! Welcome to HL! E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB |

I am actually putting in 2 more sticks to set up a nice wind tunnell. I have 2.5mm clearance from the fan that makes a great suction of air thru the sticks heatsinks (see picture of RAM) to effectively cool the RAM. I actually have a nice flow from the front of the case, past the HDDs, thru the RAM, then the CPU heatsink, then right out the back of the case. Keeps all my stuff about 4-6 degrees F over room temperature. ![]() Air temp intake is 80 right now, exhaust for case fan is 84 at the bottom & 88 the top. I think it is sucking heat from my PSU as well because the top of the fan exhaust is hotter and the air flow comming from the PSU is very low and is at 98 degrees, all in Farenheight of course. I should probably disable the PSU fan or install a barrier. | |

| OK, I made a barrier between the case fan & the PSU fan. It is much more efficient now. My case fan jets out 2° F over room temp and my PSU seeps out 11° over room temp (PSU fan is weak). My case fan is a Scythe 120mm. Oh and the RAM is actually 2mm from the intake of my CPU fan. All the pictures taken were with the PC turned on and fans spinning (I like my camera):burnout:. | I didn't like the idea of the cardboard shroud so I just superglued an 80mm fan to the back of my PSU, it actually works better. Now I'm done with my cooling enhancement mod. I hope your setup works well and you don't short out any wires Panda. You could have just strapped them together you know, but then again, you did make a pizza box PC :hahaha: goodnight ![]() AMD X2 6400+, ZEROTherm cooler, 4GB OCZ Reaper PC6200, 2x 320GB 16MB cache HDDs, nVidia 256MB 7900GS XFX, & modified case. |
