Seriously though, it would probably look cool, but would also probably be more work than it's worth. If you do, just remember to put some screws into the screw holes so they don't clog up and become unusable!
Hhmmm, ok....
That does sound like a lot of work.... I may just stick to Paint.
What color should I paint it? (if I were to paint)..
And what type of paint? (I.E. gloss, semi-gloss, etc...)

That is totally up to you. Personally, I like the glossy finishes. You could also practice your pin striping on this mobo tray in preparation for your case mod project

Theres really only one or two main ways to put it together....

as for painting, remember to use steel wool or 180 grit sandpaper on everything including the tight corners or the paint will start flaking and will be easily scratched. I myself prefer a satin finish as it is easy to clean off but doesn't grab dust like flat does... and doesn't show every dust speck like gloss does. then after the first coat, use around 1000 or higher grit sandpaper after it dries, wipe it off with a damp cloth and once its dry spray the next coat. Usually 3-4 coats is all thats needed.
Then with the wood, use a water based poly coat with a satin finish, and do it the same way you did the paint: coat, dry, 400 grit sandpaper, wipe off, coat, dry...and so on. This stuff usually take 5-6 coats... I built my own large computer desk with 5/8" birch for the top and with 5 coats, it came out fantastic... plus with the water based poly, you don't have the nasty fumes and can do that all indoors. Even with 5 coats, you still see some of the woodgrain texture which looks really nice.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Thanks for the info on that screwball, much appreciated!

I should be building the whole thing this weekend... although it won't be done by the end of the weekend, I will work on it.

BTW, I got the filer out and did some work on those edges and sraightened everything out a little bit, it looks sooooo much better... but it still needs a little more work. That work will have to wait though, got some classe's today and tomorrow.. :(

The biggest thing with painting is to make sure it is COMPLETELY dry before attempting to sand or clean or apply another coat.

Also, since you seem to have caught Yellohello's need for an excessive number of pictures, could you please drop them down to something a little more bandwidth friendly (like 640x480 or so)? The rules say less than 800x600, but it just takes so long to load your threads it gets old fast...

Ah that's a bummer, if you lived in Quebec right now, you probably wouldn't have school... Too much snow right now. :P

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?
