Get yourself some gorilla glue while you're at the depot. Use that to glue it together. Once it's bonded, peel the tape and start with the bondo.

We used Gorilla glue to glue coins down in the parking lot. We have most of em still there from 4 weeks ago, but one of them was taken off from the asphalt. There's a crater where it used to be =P heheh

Since you're going to the Depot anyway, you could get some of the fiberglass sticky mesh used to repair holes in drywall. Use that instead of the tape and you can Bondo right over it. I don't know if you'll find Bondo at the Depot, but I know you'll find it at any car parts store. You can use Bondo to weight the bottom of the stand too.

Even with the mesh and Bondo, you'll still have less than $15 into the stand.

I think the gorilla glue would work better than the mesh because it is all such a small area. the mesh would work better for (like you said) covering up fan holes on a case or something.

I agree completely with the Gorilla Glue. That stuff is awesome! For some reason, I was thinking he used some tape to help layer the bottom piece for stability. D'oh!

Well, that works! My mom's being stupid and isn't going to go buy me bondo, so that's a bummer. What about drywall putty? Haha, more ghetto-rigging.

How old are you? Can you just save up a little money and buy it yourself?

I know Bondo is made for automobile body work (patching holes and rust and stuff), so that is gonna be the strongest and most suitable for sanding and painting. Not sure about drywall putty though. Spackle might work (although that's probably about the same thing. If all else fails, maybe you could use paper mache!

I took the drywall putty to mean spackle. I can't see using it for this, bondo would work much better.

I like the paper mache idea...
