it scares me but i still think it is cool. Is that a passive cpu heatsink?

it is just a old Athlon Slot A they did not need fans back then (though it climbed to 148*F) but I am not sure the case (by the way it was once a gateway) only had 1 exhaust fan no intake no CPU fan nothing.

Its not that they didn't need them, it's just some manufactures didn't use them. Since you mention Gateway, they were known for not using Fans back then. I had a PIII 800 from them that only had a Heatsink. There are Heatsinks out there with fans on them for the Slot A.

I added a fan at one time but it was hot wired to work Yeah I knew they had them I just never used the commercially available ones.

I do have an idea for your project. Why not expose the PSU also. I mean, several people are replacing them, why not show them why also. I would use some plexi to do it of course. We don't want anyone getting shocked.
