Stinger, by RAW he doesn't mean naked pics of himself.

Hmm, I found this though a Google search:

UFRaw - Home

Using it now, and sure enough you can open RAW files in GIMP. Cool!

Now that is very good to know. Thank you Screwball for that information.

@ Yellow. Currently I have a real nice 300 mm zoom and a nice macro. I leave tomorrow morning for my annual road trip so my camera is packed but I'll follow up soon, give me a day or two with the details. I know I posted them here once before.

There is a really high end macro I would like and I also want a good fisheye. I want to get into photographing some insects this summer.

Yellow, did the Zoom Browser software help at all with the EOS 20D? What I sent was for my older 10D and I was curious.

Ron

GIMP + RAW images:

UFRaw - Home

Bibble Labs - Professional Photo Workflow Software

Decoding raw digital photos in Linux (for Linux)

from everything I read, ufraw seems the best choice, but it can also be used by itself without GIMP but without the extra processing power associated with GIMP.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Yes, it helped a lot, thanks again! I was able to install the software on the disc, then update it to DPP via Canon's website.
