Post #14. Post #16 has a more narrow depth of field.

I think the background of the pic in post #16 is not very well focused. It's not as extreme as the dandelion pic you posted, but it's definitely less in focus than the subject. Post #14 on the other hand is all in focus though.

I really like the first 2 shots.
Dont be afraid to play around with photo shop......cropping and adding back some color that the harsh light stole and what not.
When shooting outdoors try not and get to much of the sky as it just becomes dead space. Here is a crop and a slight recoloring for example.

Nate, here are a couple of macro images....the first one is taken with the 18~55mm lens you asked about, the second is taken with a Tamron 90mm Macro lens, both in low light, both without a tripod/monopod.

As you can see a little bit, its been super windy and dusty here the last couple of days.
