True, true. Contest be damned, it's still fun to put up pics of the summer and show what daily life is like.

I've just adapted to my life and feel my daily routine isn't photo worthy. However, mentioning this to my friends last night had them ROTFL'ing and calling me all sorts of complimentary names. I guess I should be wearing a pencil cam 24/7 according to them for all the..."adventures" I get into I'm not fully aware of being exciting to others. I guess they watch me, and "what's new today" isn't just a blank greeting. Dur? Didn't know that, But was told the play by play of that damn seagull attacking me while I tried to make it smile. I didn't know anyone was even there!

So, the moral of the story is to tell your story with pics. Whether you win anything or not may be the main focus as the wording states, but we all watch really close as to what's added every day. We want to know each other, so feed me seymour! Instead of wasting time looking for shots I never get, I'm going to retort to the daily snaps I should have been getting all along...quality not an issue. In my daily life, I just find I don't have the perfect timing and lighting to get what I want for a contest...so be it, because I've not told 1/100th of how MY summer has gone thus far from looking for THE shots. Not happening.

Eh, today won't be good. Coming off 9 days straight work of 14hour shifts...nights, and Laguna Seca is starting tonight. I'm not rested at all, but gotta be there. I plan on drinking fluids upon arrival and hope to have straight eyes to read data by noon. I'll be really lucky to get one shot in the entire weekend, but I'll try.

White eagle, you try too...deal? You all not partaking as well...it's not too late to show us what you do in your busy day, non busy day, lifeless day...whatever. What do you do, what do you see, what is going on right now? We all want to know. Please continue, or start if you haven't, even if you have no hope of winning prizes. Don't make Al Gore cry...this is why he invented this web thing!

Just my major pain is life catching up and photog not being a great spare time hobby the last couple years. Have many military and sportbike pics (watch the photo credits if you read bike mags) from the past, but lately...not so much. The digital age kinda left me behind. Just feels drab from what use to be quite exciting.

Right now I'm setting at a crowded desk, cup of joe, lucky strike in the tray, and it's just not a moment. Afternoon, sleeping in a Jeep. Tonight, gaming up some TF2, Pokerstars, and drinking much behind a laptop. Weeeee?

And my compression thing was about things like this:
Click the image to open in full size.
That's in a DSLR (D40x), not raw (though should have been), and the compression method to get it down was one thing...and then Flikr does it's thing. By the time I get it up, it's screwed. I still use the Jasc era PSP8, and the methods are plenty. Smartsize, BiCubic, BiLinear (this one), Pixel Resize, Weighted Average...and like 8 others. I can understand wide tent, narrow tent, etc on AA...but again, the digital part left me behind in fixing digital photos. Prior, I could just scan film, here...you work on it after the shot.

I'm reading the tuts all over the place and it's just backwards and bizaar to me. I'll get it some day, if it takes some class to do so. I gotta pick this thing up or just forget editing for the intrazneters. The days of the dark room and shooting inside the camera are vacant. Perhaps that's just raw? I can resize film with no issues ever, the way I'm shooting in digital get ran over by a truck.

*sigh*

I wish I had a 1000 dollar camera......

But I so don't want to pay for one, since the amount of time I'd use it vs say an Xbox would be much less.

I have no concerne of winning as I am new to taking pics with digital cams.....but enjoy learning and showing some pics of what I do for a living and have some home brew thrown in.I will be hosting some pics of a vacation we are going on in NY in Dexter on the Black River the 3rd week of September that i'm sure will be fantastic.
I did learn so far though, that being VERY still while shooting,is most important. This is a great learning expirience and I thank the founder.

I've got this P&S camera and I got one up there :P

NOTE: It is NOT $400. It was 250 when I bought it 2 years ago and when I broke it and got a new one (free + $50 credit with Costco's awesome warranty) it was $200.

cant blame the camera - some of my best photos were taken with a yr 2000 2.3 megapixel point and shoot. i think starting on a crappy camera is what makes you good. you have to climb around and work to get the best shots. i will admit you can do pretty cool stuff with a nice camera and lenses.

my nikon D100 is broken right now, so i have been using the cell phone and my wife's sony t300.

System Pending...but think about what I can get for 2 grandish.
