Could it be in the "Display Properties" section? In the Desktop tab you can select the background pic to run at center/stretch/tile. If it is running as a screen saver it might default to the same resolution (i.e. stretch) as the destop background.

I don't know if the "Display Properties" would change anything or not, I didn't even think to check that. And it's true that the 1440x900 res option is not available for some reason. I've gone through all the options, and that isn't one of them. I might not get a chance to get back to my sister's house for a while, but I may have to get in touch with her with some of these suggestions. Hell, she isn't even sure she's keeping the monitor now! She might look for a non-widescreen model.

If it's not fixed, then don't broke it!

Sounds like either you need to update the video card driver, or that video card doesn't support that resolution. I just read Screwballs post, and you could try that too, downloading the monitor drivers if available.

I'm forwarding these suggestions, and a few of my own, to my sister. I guess it will be up to her what she wants to do about it. I'm giving her some links and sending her some software I've got (along with what to do if she screws up, LOL!)

I guess the ball's in her court now...
