i tried a differnt optical drive and nothing happened. HOWEVER, i do notice that the optical drives seem to work HARD when trying to read the cd. Mabye the CD is broken?



E2140 @ 375 x 8 = 3.0ghz

i don't even get that far, i'm just trying to boot up the CD. I don't even get a WELCOME TO WINDOWS or anything.

Do you mean that you don't even get the blue screen that says it's loading the drivers and stuff?

Then your problem is not RAID/SATA drivers. You either have a bad disk or a bad CD drive. Test the CD drive before buying or *cough* trying alternative method to obtaining the Win2k disks.

i've tried two optical drives that i know works.

Then it's gotta be the disk. Try booting a live Linux CD. If that works, then I can almost guarantee that it's the disk.
