I have one of these on my wish list at newegg, just waiting for the paypal funds to get transfered... then I will have this and a 500GB hard drive for $125 combined...

also Blake..... looking at the power cord, does the enclosure side of the brick come out at all? or is it only the power side?
thanks!

Thanks HL and Corsair!

It comes out in a bunch of pieces..... both silver sides detach completely, the black lines are actually plastic clamp-like things (the silver sides attach to them).

But the internal metal (the stuff that actually encloses the hdd) is directly attached to the chipset, including the rear panel. It's got the 2 sata connectors for the hdd firmly secured, you plug the hdd directly into the internal metal frame. But the thingy with the blue light (what I believe you're asking about) comes off. Its got a red/white wire that has the plug side glued onto the chipset. (you could probably remove it, if U can cleanly take off the glue). But there is enough wire to keep it out of the way

no I am saying the power brick....

does this portion come loose from the power brick? (arrow)

Click the image to open in full size.

that is the cable that goes from the brick to the enclosure, not the cable from brick to the wall...

I am not sure, but most of the power adapters that I have seen do not. Usually the only one that unplugs it the cord from the adapter to the wall socket.

I figured I would ask since I am buying this same one and my case has a eSATA port and a eSATA power port on the front of the case

I actually picked one of these up last week. Only thing is, I DONT GOT AN eSATA port so im usin the USB still lol. I looked at the PCIe eSATA cards, but those run at 140 bucks WTF! And i'm using all my PCI slots so i can't just get a PCI one =(. They do sell PCIe cards for notebooks with eSATA for like 70, why is the actual desktop card so expensive =(

(thanks blake!)

Not the part the arrow points at, the other plug comes out.

That's exactly what you do. You secure the bracket to the case and connect the tail end of it to a SATA port inside your computer (on the motherboard). Then you can just connect your external enclosure to the eSATA port on the bracket you just installed.
