i don't think it would ever come to that :P but you never know. it might. chances are tho, i would ship it to someone in the US and pick it up in person.

i'm a truck driver so i am in the US a lot. currently in fargo, ND at the flying J.

on a side note, i picked up the klipsch's from best buy. 158.99 + tax. i'm pretty sure i could have found and bought them online for cheaper.. but i get too impatient sometimes :P

NCIX.com lists them for 199.99 CAD..
NCIX.com - Buy Klipsch Promedia 2.1 THX Computer Speaker System 160W RMS - PROMEDIA2.1 In Canada.

the klipsch's sound great. i have them set up in my truck right now so i don't know how great they are.. i'll reserve final judgement and comparison to my logitech z2200's when i get home later this month. the sub is much smaller than my z5500's and i'm pretty sure they are smaller than my z2200's as well. we'll see how they compare later..

Thanks for the info Manta. No I won't be mixing any music or releasing any albums, I just wanted something that sounded good without getting my neighbors all up in arms. I'll be moving a lot and living in apartments for at least the next three years of my life so I wanted something modestly sized. As for the sound being flat, I think it depends on the quality of the source. Playing uncompressed DVD's or music in a lossless format or from the CD sounds surprisingly good. On the other hand, all the other music that I quickly ripped from other people or got from their downloads folder is pretty flat and disappointing; but that is going to happen with just about anything. I guess the only thing I was hoping for was to get a little more bass with these compared to a $30 pair of speakers, but it seems you really do need a sub for that (or at least some kind of a basic woofer larger than 6" or so). I wish I had the means and space to have a sub, but it's just not practical during this stage in my life.

As a note to anyone considering a 2.0 speaker setup, just accept the fact right now that there is no desktop speaker set you can get without a sub that will produce the bass you are used to; so don't hope to spend an extra $50 on some computer speakers thinking there will be enough bass, because there won't be. There might be more, but it's just not enough. Overall though, I am happy with the way they sound. Like I said, when playing back high-quality, uncompressed sources, they sound surprisingly good and are surprisingly loud.

Ah...so no interest in reviewing Music Maker 12 Deluxe then?

You are right of course - without a sub woofer the sound folks want is not going to come from PC speakers - no matter how good. But those m-audios are pretty schweet none-the-less.

These are perhaps the best "on the Road" speaker system you can find and are real Monitors with matched Sub .... so if you need the ultimate multipurpose setup and are an audiophile ...these are at the lowest price I have seen in a long time.

$350

Mick Fleetwood Signature™ Model Twelve

I have several top end Cambridge Soundworks speakers and Subs ... they make a quality product.

Also another excellent temp solution multipurpose option is the "BoomTube" ... on Ebay ... was labeled under Virgin and now IGO ... the Lithium powered model with the larger center Subwoofer.

Very powerful compact 40 Watt 2.1 AC or DC powered speaker system
Fantastic for any PC and great for watching DVD's with sound in a Hotel from your Notebook ... I use it for my server PC's sound.

Incredible sound for a thermos size setup.

My Daughter has the Bose 2.0 speaker system which has nice sound ... these compare to them with a little clearer highs and mids and more base ... [but not thumping deep base]

There is enough sound on max to fill a small 20 person meeting room with clear sounding music. 14' X 14'

HAHA, thanks but no thanks guys. Not going to be reviewing any music software, or paying $350 for a speaker setup anytime soon. I'm not musically inclined at all, I can hardly play the radio! These StudioPro 3 speakers do sound VERY nice. I'm only disappointed that they don't have thumping bass like a setup with a subwoofer would have; but that's too much to ask for out of a 2.0 system without a sub!

The problem I have now is that I can actually tell a significant enough difference between highly compressed audio and high-quality CD quality audio that I want to re-rip all my music so it doesn't sound like crap.

so i have blown the fuse in the klipsch's yesterday. speaker no workie. i figure it must be my inverter in my truck. but i run my mac mini, xbox 360, 20 HD tv, fridge, and microrave as well as various other things all at the same time with no problems before..

and now i don't have my 360 here because it needs to be sent to microsoft to get fixed *rolls eyes* (no not the RROD... the dvd drive doesn't work right.. says i need to put the disc into an xbox360 console, and the drive doesn't eject 99% of the time without tapping on the top of the console)

so i don't think it is a problem with my power.. but who knows. another crappy thing is, because i'm on the road.. i have only been able to check gas stations for the fuse. (lol.. it was worth a shot) no luck there so i'm going to have to find a circuit city or the source or radioshack or whatever.. canadian tire... and hopefully they'll have it there.

i emailed klipsch and they replied within a 6-8 hours, saying it shoudn't have happened and that i should return it to bestbuy.

so when i get back into the US (in winnipeg, manitoba right not) i will exchange them. if no luck with that set, i may try out z2300's.
