| It's about life!...in college that is. I've been criticized for saying this, but I believe it to be what Van Wylder was a remake of. Yeah, they're not exactly about the same thing, but I'm sure anyone who's seen it knows what I'm talking about. It's definitely a classice, you guys should check it out! Also, if you're a Bellucci fan, then you absolutely must see it no matter what, haha! Ok, I got sidetracked and started watching Mythbusters. I think I'll sleep on the USB key issue and hopefully something interesting will come to me in the morning. I was looking around, and I noticed that one of my HD enclosures looks like it has an interface chip at least visually almost identical to the one on my USB key. I wonder if there's a way to use that interface chip and plug instead. I'll need to think about this one. PS I used to have the biggest crush on Kari, but now I'm finding Scottie much sexier! I don't really like tattoos, but her welding and metal forging hotness forces me to ignore them. Then again, Kari's still ultra cute, but she mentioned her boyfriend in one episode, so that just totally killed my fantasy, haha! CPU: Opteron 170 @ 2.70GHz (270x10) Vcore=1.425V Mobo: DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert RAM: 2x 512 OCZ PC-4800 EL Elite CL2.5-4-4-10 2T (1:1) Video: ATi Radeon X1900XT PSU: FSP Group FX700-GLN 700W My Heatware |

| Ok, I can't seem to stop fiddling with this thing, haha! Is there anyone here who has extensive knowledge of flash memory devices? There's no way for me to test for this, but I get the feeling that the controller chip is the thing that might be damaged. If I can find out how to bypass the controller chip and access the memory chips through another controller chip or something like that, then maybe there is still hope. If you are a memory guru, please post your thoughts, thanks! :) CPU: Opteron 170 @ 2.70GHz (270x10) Vcore=1.425V Mobo: DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert RAM: 2x 512 OCZ PC-4800 EL Elite CL2.5-4-4-10 2T (1:1) Video: ATi Radeon X1900XT PSU: FSP Group FX700-GLN 700W My Heatware |

| Yeah, some are extremely important. All I need to do is get the thing to work for 5 minutes while I transfer everything over. Then the thing can blow up for all I care, haha! There has to be a way to bypass. I just need some memory and IC gawd to help me. | Modder-ator | You said you have good soldering skills. I say try something like what JCLW did and see if that works. IF not, then you know you either soldered something wrong, or the controller chip or memory chip(s) are bad and you can go from there... |

| I'm an ok solderer, but I don't have a precision soldering kit. I don't even have a conventional soldering iron around. I think it's still at my parents' house, haha! Maybe I should ask g0dM@n. Ok, I fiddled around with it more. I even tried disabling USB2.0 and running it USB1.1 and that didn't do anything either. It won't work on any of the computers I have. Does anyone know what could cause it not to be recognized? If the mem chips were damaged, the data would just be corrupted but it should still be recognized right? | Modder-ator | I don't know, it's hard to say. If I had to guess, I would say it got shocked or something and the stuff on the PCB is messed up. But that would spell disaster for your data, so I'm just gonna hope that maybe somehow the USB plug connection got tweaked when you were pulling it out of the computer quickly. |
