Thanks, but I was hoping to get to 1920X1200. "Sigh". It's kind of depressing when everything seems to cost so much money. Expensive hobby I've taken up.

And then there's the panel type, the response time, the brightness...Ugh so many things to consider. I was simply focused on the size (typical guy I guess) - bigger is always better, right?

I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review

Why, if gaming is my primary purpose, do I REALLY care what panel I've got?

TNs seem to have the fastest response time, which ought to be a primary considieration, no?

It won't be used in front of the family couch, so I'm not really concerned about the viewing angle per se (i.e. only the user really needs to see it), nor will it really be used as a TV, although occasional DVD/streaming viewing will happen.

I'm quite certain I won't be able to tell a difference between a "true" 16.7 million colors and an "simulated" 16.7 million colors.

Ideal for gaming seems to be resolution/pixels and response time. What am I not thinking of?

you can't always go by the response times as different companies measure it different ways.. one companies 0.02 is another 0.08 and the 0.08 may show some ghosting on one but with another 0.08 may be perfect
I have a cheaper viewsonic with a 0.05 and see no ghosting with my games

As if it weren't complicated enough...

Plus you've always got to worry about dead pixels....

Buying a monitor, either online or retail, sure seems to be a crap shoot to me as to how it'll actually look/perform. Do all your research and you could still get a lemon (Ok, possible for anything you buy) or something that doesn't meet the specs you thought it did!

you dont need to worry that much about the response time when it comes to gaming. I'd care more about the contrast ratio. And thats also another thing why I tend to buy monitors from B&M stores. Issues I just load it up in the car and return the sucker.

Agreed on the B&M - much easier than shipping - quicker too.
