| The 18" Viewsonic (VG800) I'm currently using has a 25ms response time, and its awful, ghosting in most games. This LCD was around $1400 when it came out, when I won it (free, free, free!) it's value was around $750+. It's starting to make funny noises when it's on stand-by, hopefully it will die soon so I can have an excuse to replace it. ![]() || AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice | Asus A8N5X s939 | OCZ Premier PC3200 Du-Ch 1GB | Sapphire X1600Pro 512MB PCI-e | 1xWD 80Gb & 1xWD 250Gb Sata(s) | Antec SLK3800B Case | Enermax NoiseTaker 485W || |

| At the time I got it, it was worth $750, I could get around $700-$730 max for it, I needed a new monitor and most LCD were in the $700 dollar range. I couldn't resist to start using it. || AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice | Asus A8N5X s939 | OCZ Premier PC3200 Du-Ch 1GB | Sapphire X1600Pro 512MB PCI-e | 1xWD 80Gb & 1xWD 250Gb Sata(s) | Antec SLK3800B Case | Enermax NoiseTaker 485W || |

![]() Not quite. I got my Viewsonic VE155b refurbished about 5.5 years ago for $265. The white is more of an "off white", I hate this monitor and can't wait for my dream 21" or larger widescreen to come along so I can replace this old P.O.S. ![]() Last edited by gvblake22; February 13th, 2007 at 11:46.

| Retail must have been more, I remember that LCD prices were ridiculously high back then even for the small monitors. This is the one I have, VG800, it appears to have won some awards. Getting back to the original topic, I wouldn't trust a no-name brand unless they have a solid 3-year warranty, and even then the quality of the display is unpredictable for a no-name. || AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice | Asus A8N5X s939 | OCZ Premier PC3200 Du-Ch 1GB | Sapphire X1600Pro 512MB PCI-e | 1xWD 80Gb & 1xWD 250Gb Sata(s) | Antec SLK3800B Case | Enermax NoiseTaker 485W || |

also I am not worried about HDCP as I will not be getting into HD DVD or BluRay for another few years. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members.

| 5 Minute Mod Man | Well frankly, I am glad that widescreens are getting popular because that means the price of the regular size LCDs will go down. I don't really like the widescreen look yet. It will probably grow on me in time, just because the trend is going that way... BUT in the mean time, at least the widescreen popularity means a price drop in the regular size LCDs that I may want to buy ![]() |

| Colonel Calamity | I was doing some digging and found this one: Newegg.com - Hanns·G JW-199DPB Black 19" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor Built in Speakers - Retail For $180 I won't need the speakers but still decent specs and good reviews ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair!
