QFT. 5GB isn't enough to hold all of your Program Files. I have 5GB taken up by Steam alone. My 74GB Raptor is the perfect size for my primary partition. :-)

I prefer to have separate drives for my OS and Data. If I only have one HD in the system then I will Partition it. I usually partition at least 50GB for the OS.

He means that Windows ALONE will go on that partition and nothing else. Everything that you download, install, etc. will go on a different partition which are bigger.

That seems rather pointless to me. After all, most of your programs require registry entries that were created during the installation process. So not all programs will still run if you reinstall Windows and expect to use the same installations of all your programs.

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

This is one of the reasons why I go with a large partition for the OS/Applicatons/Games, currently 60GB, and allocate the rest for storage duties, such as movies, music, documents, etc.

Here is how I currently have my 2 x WD4000KD drives configured:

Hard Disk One
60GB Partition (OS, Applications, Games)
340GB Partition (Storage, Backups)

Hard Disk Two (For Testing/Benchmarking/Reviewing)
60GB Partition (OS, Applicatons, Games)
340GB Partition (Backup of hard disk one)

The second hard drive is what I use to review motherboards or other such components where a fresh Windows install is preferable. However, I keep it partition as well so that it can also serve as a backup for files on my main drive.
