MAN i feel your pain.

this happened to a CUSTOMER'S 750GB hard drive...i had to replace it...enough said.

what happened was he requested it to go in the 5.25" drive bay (yes i used a bracket) so he has the entire section of the 3.5" bays for better airflow. i told him with the hardware in that case i was going to recommend that anyway.

at the last minute, instead of having only 2 optical drives, he requested a 3rd one, AND a second hard drive.

yes, the 750GB that was underneath, got totally fried. wouldnt even be recognized.

sh*t a 750GB that's a whole load of space and money down the drain.

Those holes in the HDD casing are there to equalize the pressure when the device
is in operation. The spinning platters can create postive/negative pressure.
It also allows a very small amount of heat to dissipate (not very much though).
