EDIT: Direct from Klipsch, a factory refurbished 2.1 ProMedia set for $90 + shipping. I wholeheartedly endorse these... | |

| Modder-ator | Klipsch is a well established and trusted brand in PC Audio. As for your speaker decision, if bass that will hit, thump, and rumble is important to you then DO NOT get a 2.0 system or you will be seriously disappointed; especially if you are used to having a sub. Beyond that, do whatever you need to do, we've all linked to great speaker options... |

| Those Klipsch are decent and that is a decent price for them, just not a great price. Even when they were $60 with free shipping in December ... people weren't' jumping all over them. Whereas the link I gave you on the Z-2300 is an outstanding deal ... [and with free shipping] That deal will be gone in 48 hours or sooner. I bet they drop the free shipping before then because it is a hot price for superior sound system. However the Z-2300's haven't shown up on the "deal sites" yet. When they do ... and they will ... deal will be dead very quickly. Twice in February they were at or below $75 [w/$15 rebate] ... $90 is the lowest [no rebate deal for a long time] Main: 3ghzQ6600, Gemini2, IP35 Pro, PC 610W PSU, 4GB 6400, XP Pro, 500GB raid 0, 22" + (2)19" WS LCD's w/ Palit 9600 GT and Dual Core Notebook. | I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | Those might have been the all-digital GMX versions. Given how good the speakers are and their reputation, I find it hard to believe they'd be shunned at a $60 shipped price point, a full $100 less than what Dell normally charges for them - that would be nothing short of a steal. The Z-2300 are a great set, and the price is right. I have little doubts YH would be enjoy either, but having listened to them both, we're talking about two different classes of speakers. |

There was a little stir on the deal sites ... but not much ... Yeah ... 2 classes indeed. Being an audiophile ... I still suggest going 2.1 over 2.0 ... even if the additional mid drivers give better clarity like I suspect the Klipsch will. I also like the Boomtube portable. They put out just a tad more clear mids and deeper base than the Bose Companion series. [Even though it has two base speakers ... it is more of a 2. 1/2 ] They were just at Directron last week for $50 ... usually they hover at about $100 Cheapest now is Ebay Think Outside STWBT21 Boomtube Portable Speakers There is enough sound for 20 people presentations and it will fill a 20 X 20 room with very rich and loud music. I take them on trips ... easily loud enough to get kicked out of any hotel in the world. | I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | Indeed, particularly since "good bass" was mentioned as a criteria. And to avoid any confusion, the Klipsch I linked is a 2.1 set - there was a 2.0 set linked earlier in this thread. |

| One4yu2c ... there were some really good deals on those Klipsch 2.1's ... I just started looking and they can be had a lot cheaper than what Dell is wanting now. Gotcha ... people would have peed themselves at $60 a set for the 2.1's The 2.0 set has 2 additional mid drivers ... still the 2.1 is the winner. If the boomtube deal was still up ... that is the easiest choice. It is totally portable as well as superior sound ... and has its own internal Lithium Ion rechargeable battery. I picked some up cheap on an end run at Amazon ... and sold them for twice what I paid for them ... on Ebay. Tons of sound ... err 40 watts ... that still fits in a Notebook case ... try carrying that much base any other way. | resident headbanger | Yellow, I have a 4.1 set of speakers sitting in a box. P.M. me and make me an offer, if you are interested. They are Creative speakers . I will sell these cheap. -1 I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review Last edited by onebxr; March 12th, 2008 at 03:51. |

| It was Ebay where I saw them selling cheaper for new, refurb and store return.
