Brand spankin' new Logitech Z-5500 500W speaker system.... $146 after rebate... SHIPPED.

JUMP ON THIS. Seriously. Do it... This is cheaper than I got it directly from Logitech ($199 shipped).

Amazon.com: Logitech Z-5500 THX-Certified 505-Watt 5.1 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System: Electronics
Wow nice. :D

Paid my Z-5500's $254.00 Canadian and that was actually a good deal, lol.

Edit: Oh and you wouldn't be deceived with the Z-4's either. They're likely more than loud enough for your needs. Be sure to fiddle with your soundcard/audio player equalizer to get the best sound out of these babies. Very often people don't use the equalizer to bring out the highs and lows and the music/games end up sounding muffled.

Another vote for the Z-2300s. Killer sound, incredible volume. I've had them for about two years, worth every penny.

I haven't heard of them before, anyone else have some opinions on Klipsch?

Klipsch makes very good speakers as far as I can tell. Then again, no thundering bass will come out of a 2.0 set.

In satellite PC speakers, Klipsch by far had the best quality. All the Logitech systems really lack in midbass (though the subs normally do a good job making up for it). Klipsch speakers, especially the ProMedia 2.1s, offer great bass with amazing highs and mids.

Definitely the best out there. Too bad their stopped their ProMedia 5.1s.

- Core 2 Quad Q6600
- DFI Infinity 975X
- 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800
- 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM
- ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB
- Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W
- Acer 19" P191W Monitor
- Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution
- Vista Ultimate x64

Dell Inspiron 5150
- Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz w/ HT Tech
- 512MB PC2700 RAM
- 80GB WD Scorpio 5400RPM HD
- nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 32MB
- XP Pro SP3

Thanks. I think I may go with the Klipsch 2.0 system linked to above, looks great for the money. Can you add a sub to an existing 2.0 system later?

Depends on the set. You'd have to ask Klipsch to be sure about those.

As for midrange brownie, too many people complaining about Z-4's lack of it. Z-4's highs are pretty darn clear, the bass is decent (all enclosed sub is a strange idea from Logitech) though it's bass is crisp (8" driver being crisper than my Z-5500's 10") but out of the box with a not EQ'ed sound you will indeed lack in the mids. That can be fixed pretty easily with any decent sound card/audio player, but people don't bother...
