But the viewing angle is superb and the primary reason I bought the monitor over the cheaper TN based panels like the Samsung. I also use a Dell E248WFP at work and it is also pretty nice. It still suffers from some ghosting although not as bad as the Gateway.

The new Gateway 24" LCD seems to have a smaller viewing angle is much less expensive so it seems they've switched the TN panel type as well. After looking at the two panel types (TN and S-PVA) side by side in the store, there is no contest in terms of contrast and color consistancy across the whole screen as well as color reproduction and brightness. I will never buy another TN based LCD again.
TN is cheaper and no input lag. Contrast ratio is lower, though.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

I've never experienced any input lag on any monitor I've ever used, so I can't really comment about what that is like. TN is definitely cheaper, but I would much rather pay a premium price than have to keep shifting my head all around to get the sweet spot on the monitor so things all appear uniform and accurate.

I've noticed that if the monitor sports a 160º/160º viewing angle then it is probably a TN Panel, but if it is 179º/179º then it is probably using a higher quality panel type (like PVA or IPS)

Lol, how many of you actually look at an LCD monitor not head on? I don't know about you, but I like looking directly at my monitor.

with my cheapo Viewsonic Optiquest Q19wb I can go almost all the way to the side/top/bottom and still read it clearly, has a very good viewing angle. Granted this is not a 24" (is a 19") but it is still something that is worth checking into.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I'm not talking about sitting off to the side of the monitor, I'm talking about if you were sitting/standing directly in front of the monitor and moved your level of eyesight from the top edge of the screen straight down to the bottom. If you do that on a TN panel you can see the contrast go to hell, but other higher quality panels do not.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I think I'm going to save up a bit more and get this DoubleSight 26" Looks like an awesome product. $680.00, but since I only upgrade about every 5 years I think it'll be worth it.

Well w/ 4x4 season coming in and wanting to add a new rear bumper to my Modded out FJ, I've decided to get a cheaper 24" LCD. It's a TN Panel, but it's gotten some really good reviews and I'm sure it will suit my purposes perfectly.

I ordered the new Samsung 2493HM

Some Specs:

Samsung makes great LCDs, you didn't really settle at all with that choice.

Thanks. I'm running a Samsung 19" now and I've never had a gripe, so this should only be better. Wondering if I want to use both panels though. My 19" is about 4 years old.

I'm using a 22in acer and a 19in samsung right now... I would recommend hooking them both up, and just seeing if you like it. I know I feel lost without my dual screens... one screen just can't hold enough stuff (I can easily fill up both screens doing homework, between ms word, firefox for sources/references, msn windows, steam friends windows, another firefox window or vlc player open playing a show... it fills up fast!)
