I have it installed on 4 of my systems here without a single problem, one of them being a Dell OEM PC

Thanks HL and Corsair!

A friends laptop had this happen to him... it was an older laptop though, using a low power amd.

He wound up having to reinstall.

I've installed it on dozens of PCs, never had a problem. If anything it increases stability. It's mostly all the hotfixes between SP2 and 3, but there are a few other performance benefits and features. No reason not to install it, if just to save you a couple hours on windows update.

:D Glad to hear. I'll do that before I go to sleep :) Or maybe now, since there are people coming over for a couple hours. :P

I agree with drew... I have it installed on every single system here at home (6 PCs), one of them being an OEM Dell and not a single problem.

The only computers I heard this is a problem with was a few specific OEMs with very specific programs installed...

I finally broke down and installed it on my system. Besides longer startup times, I haven't noticed a lick of difference compared to SP2.

The first startup took like 10 minutes. But it had to "Configure IE6 Settings"..... aka: install IE6. lol.

So far, don't notice a thing except the Windows XP Loading screen is now at a pretty resolution.
