So you guys think that the best idea would be to go with a Vista for my new system?

It is a tough call actually, you are kindof right in the middle of where half the people would say stick with XP and the other half would say it's time to give in and just get Vista. If you don't want to think about buying another operating system in a couple years, then you should just get Vista now. But if you already have XP and don't mind running it now and going Vista only when you need to, then that's not a bad route either. But if you have to buy an operating system of some kind regardless, you might as well get Vista (was hard for me to write that last sentance)...

Yeah, I know the feelin'. I'm not really that interested in it right now. I run Xp and I enjoy (to the best that one can enjoy M$) running it. I figure I'd get it when I had to for DX10. Or when the cool tech stuff would only run on vista...

get mce 2005 if you want something different. It is xp pro with some good add ons. I felt like I upgraded from home when I got it.

I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review

I don't see why not. You'll eventually purchase it anyway, and you already own a capable version of XP, which you'll regain access to in a month. Why buy XP all over again, and then Vista down the line?

I'd pick up Vista now, and when you get that XP disc back, consider dual-booting...
