Finally went through....not sure if it made the difference,but I disabled McAfee this time.Took less than an hour,maybe half that.

Makes a big difference, as antivirus can hang the entire install. I usually do major updates in safe mode.
Had to do a system restore as scan file found several corrupt installations from Windows Update borked attempts to kill my system, redownloading bigass standalone again.

Dilemma......now all my favorites are gone and all thats there is..win live hotmail 5 times .... MSN.COM .....Sign in .... continue.
When I right click and delete...they wont go away.

EDIT: WTF...now they are all there correctly...and all I did was search Help and Support....scared it I guess.Too early for this crap.

Sorry to hear about your problems. It took about an hour to download and chug through the install last night, and so far no problems.

incase you guys care i did do a mini review on SP1 a few weeks ago, and updates hasn't told me i had to update a new one so i assume mine's the final version like everyone's d/ling now. Anyone else experience the stuff i did?

SP1 effectively killed my Vista installation, typing this from a newly revived oldskool Athlon system. Corrupted the kernal itself of all things, fighting with the recovery DVD to try and replace it. Looks like I may have to nuke the entire drive and reinstall, thanks Microsoft for your truckload of fail.
