Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) is an update to Windows Vista that addresses feedback from our customers. In addition to previously released updates, SP1 will contain changes focused on addressing specific reliability, performance, and compatibility issues; supporting new types of hardware; and adding support for several emerging standards. SP1 also will continue to make it easier for IT administrators to deploy and manage Windows Vista.

Amazon is already shipping them bundled.

First it downloads, then refuses to install. Then it kinda installs, but fails. I try again, it installs in like 3 seconds and doesn't ask for a restart which I know is wrong. Now Windows says it has SP1 installed, but still wants to download and install it but won't connect when I click the "install" button. Way to go Microsoft.

Dang, hopefully your Windows install isn't fubared. Too late for a system restore to a previous time?

I've had no problem myself with SP1 final. However, a few of my application settings seemed to be reset, the most "annoying" one being my Creative X-Fi panel settings.

It otherwise operates fine, so I'm downloading that monster sized Standalone and will uninstall SP1 then try again. If it all borks up, it made a restore point before trying to install.

Well it took 2 hours and nothing...got boned by M$. Downloaded and installed to the last second and then reverted...buncha BS.

EDIT: error code.80041315 searching for it now.

EDIT: 24 different reasons for that error code. Screw it.

Downloading via Windows Update right now. I had to update the Windows Defender definitions first though... I hope Microsoft improves the God awful file transfer speed!

i have it on my system as well. ill have to conduct testing tomorrow evening as i have an 8 mile road march in the morning.
