Default Re: What to run to test my new build?

I'll let it run a little bit and get back to you. What I'll do is what to see if it will get up that high again...then reboot real quick and jump into bios and check the temp.

No...I haven't changed anything but the memory timings yesterday. Actually...it did this before one time before anything was changed. I turned it off and it didn't do it for a couple of days. It don't seem to be an everyday thing...which is weird.

I bought an AC unit, put it in the room and it's cold enough to wear a sweater. MB stay about 27-28C, harddrive about 30C and usually the cpu stays anywhere from 22-28C idle to load. I really haven't done anything to work the system.

Be back in a while.

This sucks....running that stress test on prime95 (I think it's running...It's passed two self tests so far) it's showing only loading both cores about 50-60% and the temps are staying at 29-30C. No over heating like before.

Any ideas why it will over heat one time and not the other?

What does the Tjunction mean on coretemp? In the log it's only giving the temps for Cpu #0 which all looked fine before when I was getting that 67 C reading from everything else. 24-32 C.

Her's what you do to get 100% load on both cores:

Setup Prime95 for one core and run one instance of CPU Burn-in for the other. You can't run two instances of Prime 95 at the same time.

Soooo I've been wasting my time? Wow! That sucks too. I thought you just set it up for torture test and let it run. But that does explain why the cores were only loading 50%.

Well, instead of running prime and burn in...Would running just cpu burn in work...or do both programs at the same time?

What temps should I expect, so I don't freak out.

By the way...I think I found my problem. When ever I start the PC Probe that came with the board...shortly there after, my temps freak out. When it did it this time I immediately rebooted and checked in the Bios..about 15 seconds lapse time...and the temp only read 24.5C, when it had been reading 67 C on 3 different moniters about 15 seconds before. So I think it's PC Probe kicking everything out of wack.

Yea, stick with Core temps.

You can also run 2 instances od CPU Burn-in also.

I don't know what the TJunction temp is, and I've been wondering what that temp is to.

EDIT: you have to run two CPU stress programs at once because it's a dual core CPU.

No prob, Scott....... Damn a day and a half wasted..... That sucks, dude!

remember, if you ever get a quad core, 4 instances of CPU burn-in!!

OK...you said the Old cpu burn in. the one I downloaded is v1.0.0.1. The only options it gives me is how many hours to run it and if I want error checking or not.

Is this the right one?...if it is I guess I need to download it again and run the second also at the same time.

Only reason why I ask...is prime95 gave an option to run it on one core (I seen that after you said something) and said I could run two of them. But you said I couldn't. So...just wondering if I have the right version of burn in now and if I just need to run two of them (without any options as to what core they will run on.) LOLOL> Does this make sense?

Ya, Prime95 won't let you run two of them, but CPU Burn-in will let you. And yes, you are talking about the right program. Enable error checking. Open two CPU burn-in's (yes, double click on the icon twice) and set both of them to the same duration of time. Start both of them. run Core temps at the same time, and you should be set!!
