I believe it was a recall from RCA at the time, I didn't hear of anyone locally having a problem. The cable company brought the modems to everyone and took the defective ones back.

I think that is going to depend more on the specific program than the operating system. If you need a different version of AutoCad for Vista, there is a slight chance, but only if the Vista AutoCad version cannot read files from the XP AutoCad version (which is highly unlikely). I would guess that you should be fine given you have two specific programs that are backward compatable with each other reading the files.

Vista hated me and the feeling was mutual. It looked pretty and ran fast, but crashed too frequently. Probably becuase of all the obscure programs I run all the time. I look forward to seeing the final iterations.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I installed Vista Beta on my laptop and I realized that most of the programs like Autocad is not supported and need to do a complete fresh install of XP. Problem is that the frigging machine will not shutdown by itself properly, it just hang with the messasge saying Window is shutting down. I have the Recovery disc that came with the laptop and the machine will not restart from disc. How do I get the machine to boot from the Recovery disc??

It should shut off by holding down the power button until it shuts down. Put your windows cd in first. Then restart and go into the bios to set it to boot from cd drive. All else failing I would think you could remove the power to shut it down as a last resort.
