After you burn the iso file the dvd it makes works just like your regular windows boot cd. Put it in the dvd drive and restart the computer making sure the cd-dvd drives are set as first boot devices. < access the bios to set boot priority. When it boots into Vista it will ask questions just like the Xp install does. You should have a choice to install it by itself or dual boot with your windows XP.

If you dont have any blank DVDs, you can download Daemon tools, wich will allow you to run the ISO from Windows XP

I don't think that will work. Unless you are installing it in a different partition, you will have to clear your current one.

I am thinking of shutting down the machine since I have to watch my light consumption. Question is will the download resume where it left off or will it have to start all over again??

I think Firefox can resume it from where you left off, but not sure about doing so after you have shut down the machine.

The Akaimi(mispelled perhaps) DL manager microsoft provided worked great for me.

My DSL modem, when I start doing 380KB/s for sustained periods of time gets burning hot and in a way throttles(by restarting). Verizon got a telephone call, and they are giving me the new Actiontek DSL modem\wireless router.
