| Your problem is that you haven't given the file permission to execute (chmod +x filename). But there's an easier way to do this if you don't like terminals. Just go to Applications > Add/Remove and find the nVidia driver. It's pretty straightforward. |

| Colonel Calamity | I found that by using 6.10 or Kubuntu (6.06 or 6.10) this tends to be resolved... I had the same problem with Ubuntu 6.06 on my system that has the 6100 IGP as well Kubuntu 6.10 works fantastic on it though ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Modder-ator | Thanks guys. I ended up hunting down Lead Head on IM (which was already graciously installed by Ubuntu) and we got it figured out. The nVidia driver was installed, I just didn't have any resolution options above 1024x768. So I edited the xorg.conf (or something) to include 1920x1200 and force it to 60hz refresh rate and all seems to be well. Should there be an nVidia driver control panel or anything? I'm not concerned about 3D performance in games or anything, just 2D... BTW screwball, I'm using 7.04 now, not 6.06 like I originally posted ![]() |

| I upgraded to 7.04 yesterday. It took about five hours because a) it had to download updates for all the software I've installed (which is a LOT) and b) it takes about five times as long to install the system while you're actually using it. I must say that I'm very impressed with it so far. It's not just one specific feature jumping out at me, but the HUGE speed increases I've seen in the console, the GTK+ integration in KDE, and all the bug fixes I've been waiting for so long. One of my favorite bug fixes is that audio CDs now open to audiocd:/ instead of /media/cdrom0. That used to be a huge PITA for me because there was no icon to go to the ripping station. |

| Modder-ator | Sometimes when I'm using Firefox and I click a link that opens in a new window, the window is all black and I can't see the contents. But sometimes if I minimize the window, then restore it, it will appear properly. Any idea what is happening there? |
