I dunno about Vista x64, but I'm running XP x64 and so far so good. Haven't noticed much difference between 32 and 64 really. I found several 64 bit versions of software I commonly use.

You're doomed. XP64 has to be the worst thing I saw since ME. :P

What problems did you run into? I've only had it on here for a couple of days.

I had very few problems with XP x64... and nothing but problems with Vista (32 and 64bit, especially 64bit)

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I've had a really good time with vista x64. Heard nothing but horror stories from my friend running xp x64 though.

Bummer about that program though...

Oh, don't get me wrong... All the programs that I need to use (including this Nokia PC Suite) are x64 compatible. It's just this combo that kills it.

I do like Winamp to an extent (I use it in fact to convert MP3s to eAAC+ for my phone). I just don't really want to make the transition from iTunes to Winamp... I'm just used to it so much. The iPod thing is nothing... I know I can use Winamp for that one.

You know, switching to Winamp really isn't that bad of an idea... Maybe I'll try it out... just maybe...

Well, either way, I think I'm still going for x86... Say hello to the sixth reformat this computer has witnessed!

So, I just found out that removing iTunes will exclusively remove this problem from my system... I think I'm gonna just kick iTunes outta the door until Apple and Nokia duke it out...

On the other hand, I'm still gonna reformat... just for the hell of it... I don't want any of this iTunes stuff on my computer at all.

I also found out that the problem is exclusively with iTunes 7.6... running iTunes 7.5 now without a problem.

I also found out these GEAR drivers have been included since iTunes 4. Reason why 7.5 doesn't have the problem? iTunes 7.5 is the 32-bit version of the application with no 64-bit drivers... No 64-bit drivers = no GEAR working... :)

I run Vista 64 with next to no problems. Admittedly, it took Microsoft about 40 updates to get it running ok, but they got there in the end.

Also, nearly all major programs now support 64bit architecture. This has only happened over the last 8 months or so, making the life of some1 running Vista/XP 64bit a lot easier.

I am not to clued up as to the difference between in performance between 32bit & 64bit, but with most things, the higher the number the better it will perform.
