Oh yeah, encryption enabled in utorrent, PeerGuardian2, comodo, and a NAT'd router. I'm working on a smoothwall/honeypot box to further increase security.

personally i was all over that PG2 thing, but i come to realize it really doesn't make that much of a difference lol. Ofcourse, nothing I use Torrent-wise is illegal distribution...

If you check the properties on a file that is being downloaded, you get 2 tabs: general and advanced. On the advanced tab, the Run program section can be used to trigger the execution of a program.

What I do, is use a command line mail program, that allows me to send and email from the command line once installed.

Specifically for utorrent, I just copy and paste this line:


C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c febootimail -FROM anymail@somewhere.com -TO yourmail@yourhost.com -SUBJECT "uTorrent" -TEXT "%N has finished downloading." -SERVER your.smtp.server

the %N will be replaced with the name of your finished torrent.

the program used can be found HERE.

This may be useful..

If you have problems with an smtp server you can use your gmail account.

That is what I use to get notifications:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c febootimail -FROM anyMail@urHost.com -TO yourEmail@urHost.com -SUBJECT "uTorrent" -TEXT "%N has finished downloading." -SERVER smtp.gmail.com -PORT 587 -USER yourGmailAcc@gmail.com -PASS yourGmailAccPass -STARTTLS


maybe the -FROM argument is not necesary, because it's changed with gmail's.
