| ok wait.... to me, it looks like the guy is making creative money by enabling their products to work with vista. instead of possible consumers saying, "no i better not get this creative sound card cause of their bad drivers" people will still consider it because of the drivers he's making available for free. am i missing something here? how is he stealing money from creative in any way? |

| HL's Technomancer | In other news, the new Xonar looks to be a winner at an $89 price point: DailyTech - ASUS Xonar DX 5.0 Sound Card Debuts for Only $89 The best news is it's not Creative. Just pray you don't have to RMA it. |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | If you think about it, several sites and people offer custom/altered video card drivers for people to get improved performance and functionality.....whats the difference here? Creative is for the most part a despised company, poor support, bad drivers, etc.....and with companies like ASUS putting out an impressive Xonar card, and others following suit....not to mention vastly improved onboard audio, Creative had better get their shit together. I personally have an X-Fi card only because it was a gift from the wife, but with board layouts what they are, and huge video cards, I generally use onboard, and have been happy with it. INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU |

| Colonel Calamity | My ears are a bit too sensitive to use onboard and I feel that I can hear the difference which is why I use the X-fi card. I myself personally have not had Vista problems with my X-fi card. I have had Vista problems with other things but not X-Fi. Once you get the driver and ALchemy installed, I myself have noticed only a very small difference between XP and Vista. A good majority of problems that I have heard were the default Microsoft drivers causing the BSOD or the early Creative drivers. Once it got later in 07, they had this fixed although the CDs that came with the cards were still beta Vista drivers or Windows would try to install their Xfi driver automatically during windows update causing most of the problems. At the same time, creative should have supported the audigy, Live and other cards, many of which are still being sold today yet they still refuse to release proper Vista drivers, which I think is crap. Why sell a product if you cannot support it. I see both sides of the fence here, early Xfi problems cause the reported problems to trickle down as people still try to use older drivers, and lack of support for other cards just leaves Creative in a bad spot. Release drivers that work, pay Daniel_K for his work, and leave it be. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Super Moderator | My perception of Creative (of company I used to really like), is that Daniel_K is messing with their business model. That model consists of forcing or pushing people who use Vista to upgrade their sound hardware. If they were a monopoly, this would work great. But I think, as they are about to find out, it simply opens the door for other companies to sell sound cards and feed off of the animosity they have/are creating in their customer base. Manta |

| I definitely won't be supporting Creative anymore. They could have gone about all this in a better way. I think I'll be looking at my other options for sound from now on. |
