well thats crap... thats like windows updates only downloading fast if you have downloaded plenty of previous updates... I want full speed immediately and not some tiered crap... unfortunately if RIAA and those types get their way, we will be limited to torrents in the future. Not a good sign for occasional downloaders like me who will have to wait a week to get a Linux Distro should I choose to get it that way.

I disagree, to be honest I have never seen CCleaner's registry repair tool stand out compared to others. I ran CCleaner just yesterday, then I tried Eusing's out just an hours ago and it picked up apparently 200+ reg errors. I should pit this against registry mechanic and RegScrubXP.

EDIT -

This is both correct and incorrect. It depends on the tracker really, I normally blast through torrents at 300KB/s if there are enough seeds, however on some lesser known trackers I may only get to 10KB/s.

About 99% of the time when it comes to linux downloading I'm full speed all the time, regardless of share ratios.

RegScrubXP caused me nothing but problems on 2 different systems and I heard (no verification) that registry mechanic is one that places fake errors to make it look like it is doing its job better than it really is. I am also curious if Eusing is the same way.
One tip for CCleaner registry, run several scans of it and sometimes it takes 2-4 passes before it clears them all. The 2nd pass on up finds registry trees/entries that were removed on the previous pass(es).

I always run 3 passes with every tool, even when defragging.

Eusing looked legit, I'll check it again to be sure though. No reason to do that with a free tool. Registry Mechanic looks legit but I never really pay much attn to it, I'll look into it again, but I have noticed some huge performance increases with regmech on alot of machines. What kind of problems did RegscrubXP give you? You weren't trying to run it in Vista were you :P

No I do not have Vista on any machine now or when that happened.
When I ran RegScrubXP on 2 machines, after that exact incident on both machines, windows started tossing random errors relating to certain services not accessible... as soon as I restored what the RegScrub removed then it worked fine again. I tried to dig deeper but RS would not give me a whole lot of information as to which were the problematic ones versus the legitimate dead entries...

:P I was kidding about vista. I never had any issues with it, it must not like penguins :P

If it makes you feel better, after using Eusing, Registry mechanic 6 only found 7 errors, 3 shortcuts and 4 file extensions. I've had entire passes with it before where it found nothing.

Not really, people are donating their bandwith costs, thier power usage, so you can download from them. The least you could do is give back a little bit. Even if you only upload at 5-10kb/s, your downloads will speed way up. Also tts not if you downloaded allot of torrents then uploaded them, its if you upload the CURRENT torrent your downloading, aka seeding. If you have your torrent client set to only download torrents, and not upload them, your downloads will be choked to a certain extent. DLing and not upload is called leeching, which is not liked in bit torrent.

Anyways, looks like PC Mag should have given some of these programs a better look through..

PC World Ian.

Yeah, I haven't heard of half of those apps. I too use uTorrent (hmm, it's actually microTorrent if you think about it). It's simple, fast, and works well (better than BitComet).

I hate you guys and your fast internet connections... I chug at 80kbps max.

There's a plenty of good open source devolopment programs too, great alternatives to Adobe and such what. I really like Blendr 3D BlenderNation, it rivals Maya in terms of functionality. Takes quite a bit of getting used to but worth it when you do.

yup yup
with KTorrent i seed everything to 200% as long as it's not painstakingly slow, and i usually get torrents in up to 500kbps.
imho KTorrent is the best torrenting cliet
