Yeah, that's exactly what we're saying. Not the good time, yet. ;D

We really can't expect to draw more then 1.5kw from computer hardware. Most household sockets in America are wired for 15 amps peak/12 amps 24/7. Thats only around 1400 watts of power you can safely use, and assuming PSU efficiency, only about 1200 of watts of power can be safely provided to your rig. Some houses are wired for 20 amp sockets, which is 20 amps peak/18 amps continuous.Thats 2070 watts safely drawn from the wall. And then assuming PSU efficiency again being around 80%, thats about 1600-1700 watts of power you can safely use. To use this PSU at its max rated capability, you would need at least 21 AMP continuous/23-25 AMP peak sockets...

And that's also not taking into consideration the fact that most of us have more than just our PSU plugged into the same socket; I personally have an all-in-one printer, speakers, modem, and router in the same socket (and often more than that).

It's not only socket, it's on the same BREAKER. o_O
Oh and Lead Head your calculations are wrong. 20A or 18A continuous = 2160W (not 2070) not calculating efficiency (or for that matters breaker irregulatrities/threshold). At 80% efficiency you can get ± 1728W, at 70% 1512W. Nobody calculated capacitor aging either, think of this in a folding computer 24/7. After a year you'll be left with a 1Kw psu.
And since it's so off spec (NOT ATX compliant at all) by the time "we need" a power supply like this we'll have new connectors.

Haha. You'd be surprised though, alot of people get caught buying a power supply that makes it for their current setup and cry when it won't work a year after when they buy their new video card. =/

Wow. A 2,000 watt power supply... and modulated to boot. That's one PSU I won't be buying. Modulated PSU's with that kind of wattage equal crap in my opinion. If anyone is serious about pure performance in their rigs, they will stick with non-modulated PSU's, especially when those PSU's are running two thousand watts...

I used to think that, but they're coming great IMO. "Back then", modular meant unsteady current because of the cheap connections they used. Ultra seems to have quite good wiring and plugs which partially solves this little problem. Sure, it might not be worth the best wired PSU but so far so good. =)

I was assuming 115v mains voltage, not 120v, as thats what my multimeter reads from the wall. So really either way, to FULLY utilize this PSU, you would have to be in an industrial environment...
