True. And in this case it happens to be that the person that patented the design was also the first to create it.

You have to look at how they narrowed the claim and even brought forward prior art that could be considered similar.

If you take into consideration what exactly they are patenting, the context in which it's used, the application for the device, etc. then you would be hard pressed to find anything that could be considered "prior art" to this patent. It just so happens that everything made AFTER this patent was filed for (Antec, Hiper, etc) infringes on this patent. WHY? Because it was a great idea! Why didn't we see anything like it prior to 2004? Because nobody else thought of it!
