Raid can you give me a few pointers on bleeding your system. I should be getting my case very soon and I'll want to get rolling on mine as soon as I can. Did you uncap the radiator's to help w/ bleeding?

Also, if you need to drain the system, do you disconnect a fitting at the bottom of the res?

Thanks!

Dan

From my experience, to help bleed air, having the reservoir higher then the other components is ideal because the air bubbles will go to the highest place in the loop. This way you can uncap the res, and while the pump is bleeding the air, gently rock the case from left to right and then forward and backward, hold in each position for about a minute or two. I bleed my system with the res cap off for at least 12hr.. It's very important to have the reservoir uncapped during the bleeding process so gravity can do its thing/

My new parts come in tomorrow and wednesday so I will be starting a build log as well.

With a few of your questions.

To fill your system, open the res and try to get as much as the fluid in the tubes and around the loop as you can. Always try to keep the res as full as possible. Next, short your PSU 24pin cable (green wire to any black; use a paper clip) and cycle the pump so some of the fluid goes around the loop. Never run the pump dry. If the fluid gets low, fill the res again. Keep cycling the pump and topping up the res until the loop is full.

When bleeding the air out, you may need to tip the computer around. Close the res, and try to get all the air from the rad, blocks, and tubing into the res. Put the comp right side up and fill the res again. It may be a few days of using the comp normally to get all the air out (some tiny air bubbles are fine and will probably come out in a couple days.) Just remember to keep the res (or t-line as the case may be) as full as possible.

OK, draining. I usually unmount the CPU block (with fluid still in the system) and hang it out of the comp, away from the other components. Get a bowl or something and cut or unhook the tubing from the block and let the fluid flow into the bowl. You may have to tip the system around to get all the fluid around. The rad is really hard to drain, and it usually takes longer.

Hope that helps!

for bleeding - i just fill the res to the top and call it a day. within a few minutes, all the tiny bubbles in your loops will collect and the water will look clearer. after that, you'll probably have a few bubbles a the top of your reservoir bouncing around due to the flow but i personally like to have a few bubbles to help indicate flow. if you want you can fill it again to make the bubbles go away.

for draining - it depends on what you're trying to do. taking the bottom fitting from the multi option res will drain a majority of the water. you could then unscrew the bottom of the thermochill and drain your radiator and that will get almost all the water out of your loop. you may have just a little bit sitting in your pump and your block but those draining from those two spots is all i ever do. you can also blow thru the tubing and force water through the loop to your drain point.

*** make sure you flush your radiator. there's usually some white stuff in there during the manufacturing process.

*** always a good idea to conduct a leak test with computer powered down and just running the pump.

Thanks! I'll have my Torture Rack Friday and should be able to get started this weekend on everything. I've already flushed my Rad's.

BTW Raid I have DD cutting me a T-Shaped piece of black Acrylic to go in the lower area of the TR, where the bays and fan module are. If you are interested in getting one yourself, talk to Debbi. I'm also still waiting on my front and top panels, should be next Monday.
