| OK, I see what your saying Paul. I understand about the IC thing now, and I fully and totally agree with you. So what your saying about the 1066MHz kits is that he should go with some 1066MHz kit and not the OCZ? |

| listen to you learned folk :) i got a question, having your memory running at 1000 mhz instead of the 800mhz, is that going to shorten the lifespan of it? edit: YAY I GOT THE FRIGGEN SIGNATURE TO WORK!! | If you buy a 1066MHz kit, and that's the stock speed of it, then I don't believe it will. I think it has more to do with voltages............. |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | Quote:

Overclocking always comes with a risk, which can never be eliminated 100%. What you can do is tip the tables in your favor by taking precautions. While a higher frequency means a part is working harder, if you can keep the voltage down, maintain adequate airflow, and pass a series of stress tests (in other words, is it stable?), then you've got a fairly safe OC on your hands. | ||

Thats not really how things work...... I also try to get people to keep their voltages for DDR2 below 2.2V, anything over that and you risk killing your memory. Its not the timings or clock speed that will kill it, its the voltage and heat that it generates........You can push the memory to the point of instability with the default voltage, but its unlikely to kill it. Also, every kit is different, the ICs used on your particular kit, and batch, might not be used on the next batch, or the next batch may not OC as well as yours....there are a lot of particulars that come into play. The best option is to get a good DDR2-800 kit, like the OCZ kit Paul mentioned, then, regardless of your OC, you are guaranteed DDR2-800, which is the minimum I'd recommend nowadays.....DDR2-667 isn't worth the trouble, and I hate to see someone spend money on it thinking they'll see DDR2-900, and get nuetered at DDR2-750 or so. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | The Armor Extreme is hands down one of my favorite all time cases. Extremely durable, great cable management, plenty of room, and the side panel with fan does a great job of cooling not only the motherboard, but the video card as well. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Paul pretty much covered everything.....wait for the price cuts, and maybe consider an Intel chipset for the motherboard (either a P35 or an X38, after they hit the market).
