Honestly, the PSU issue is far overblown......PC Power and Cooling loves to scare people into spending oodles of unneeded money on PSUs.
Trust me, any of the brands we mention produce more than satisfactory PSUs.

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

There are plenty of capable power supplies suitable for OCing without the PCP&P branding. Some examples include Antec, Enermax, OCZ, Fortron, and Seasonic, among others. Step one is to narrow a search down to name brand units, and step two/three are to look at the +12V rail(s), and overall wattage.

On a very related note, in a recent memory article I wrote up (LINK), I took my testbed's 3800+ X2 to 2.8GHz completely stable on a Seasonic M12-500. And the list of my previous OCing adventures is quite extensive, all of which have been on non-PCP&P units. Shoot, I've hit a 1GHz overclock (2.4C to 3.4GHz) on a Thermaltake unit, of all brands.

We'll never advocate investing in generic units, nor would we argue that PCP&P units aren't high end (they are!); we will, however, point out that users don't need to spend a fortune on a quality unit capable of power enthusiast level rigs, including heavily OCd ones.

FZ, I think people really believe a lot of this guff that PC P&C puts out. Their PSUs are very good, but overkill is a good description as well. Grab a 600W unit from any of the people I mention above, and you'll have absolutely no problem overclocking any system you can put together.
I've run my systems without issue on a Prommie maxed out with no problems using an ANTEC 550W PSU.....I'm currently using a Fortron 700W PSU (who many companies, including PC P&C use as the foundation for their own PSUs).
I'm in no way saying PC P&C doesn't make the best PSUs on the market, but I am saying that theres no real need to spend $300 on a PSU, when you'll get the same performance out of a $120 PSU

The way I look at it, there are good products out there. These days you don't have to blow the money you would have a few years ago.

Hubby was looking at a $250+ PSU a few weeks ago, I thought he was crazy to even consider something that expensive.

Wave Master: Gigabyte GA-7NNXP, Barton 3200, 1 gig PC3200, BFG 6800, Ultra X-Finity 600W, DVDRW, 750 Zip
80, 160 & 200 gig hard drives

Dual Xeon folder: SilverStone SST-TJ05S-X, Gigabyte GA-9ITDW, Intel Xeon 3.2 Irwindale 800MHz x2, Geil 1 GB DDR2 PC2 4300x2, BFG 6600 GT OC, Ultra X-Finity 600W, DVDRW, Akasa AllInOne, WD Caviar RAID Edition 120x2, Win XP MC 05

I look at it like this. Why spend $250,000 on a Ferrari when I can spend $75k on a Corvette C06 and still have one of the fastest, best sports cars in the World? I don't think you'll hear anyone here argue that PC P&C PSU's are a bad choice. If you wanted the best, and could afford it, then what's the worry?

I personally got an OCZ 700w GamerXStreme for my new C2D rig. I've got 2 opticals, 4 HDD's, a 800Mhz Overclock on the CPU, 75Mhz overclock on the memroy and it ran Prime stable all night. 8 passes with memtest86 were fine, no eorrors. Now that's a quality PSU!Is it a PC P&C unit? Nope. Does it get me from point A to Point B for a heck of a lot less bones. Sure does.

They will not fail, that's for sure. But they cost an arm and a leg... *holds up severed leg*

Looks like Quakindude helped me figure out the PSU. I was considering the 1K TurboCool from PCP&C, but why spend the bones when something cheaper gets the job done just as well? The saved cash can be used for a better mobo or CPUs.

Or Video card(s).

Plus, One4yu2c recommends the same OCZ PSU and what he says, I listen too. He knows his stuff.

Still, who would put video cards in server? I can see them in an ultimate system, but a server :dontknow:
