In anticipation of Spore's September arrival date, EA released the Spore creature creator yesterday in both free demo and full versions. A cracked demo was actually leaked a day early on some fan sites, but sadly I didn't catch wind of this till yesterday. You can download both the free and paid versions here.

I spent at least four hours on this editor last night making whatever I could think of; it was a blast! I'll be doing a full review of the editor hopefully sometime today, but be sure to try it out yourself soon.

That was pretty fun, I can see the level of depth to the game could be pleasantly overwhelming if they did it right. I can see where the type of hands/feet, weapons etc. could really help or hinder your progress as you evolve into intelligent life. Cool stuff.
