one thing is to see what specific part of your system is limited with this game, try this website to see what it mentions as the problematic part of your system:
System Requirements Lab

Thanks HL and Corsair!

that 8600gt will have a tough time running crysis. However, a better game, COD4 will run well with that card.

I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review

From some articles I have read, running it in medium would work with that card. And some other adjustments as well.

Crysis will cripple just about any single GPU system available today, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. You've going to have to turn the detail down a good bit to get it to run on any system, but it should at least run on an 8600GT.

That looks like a decent system and should definitely be able to run S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in some form. May I suggest a different motherboard though? The DFI is kindof a picky motherboard and may not be the best choice for casual users who aren't looking to tweak their BIOS for days/weeks/months. A Gigabyte, Asus, or Biostar might be a good choice...

The game plays like crap on my system aswell.
Big pauses in certain areas, never been able to figure out why.
I've removed it off my harddrive since then.

nooooooooooo. i know that you've already got it, but ultimate isnt worth the money, unless youre gonna use all the business stuff, and drive encryption that is. I woulda reccommended home premium 64 bit(which, btw i use and love).

also for the record, a mate got crysis to play on the onboard video of an abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD mobo (ati x1250 chipset), at 800 x 600 at medium settings, which was quite playable most of the time. so by rights that 8600 you got should run it well, just dont go too nuts with the settings.
enjoy the new pc!

Yes both Gigabyte and Asus have good P35 options..... And most of them will OC like a banshee/

And about Crysis, I beat the game, I ran at 1024x768 with all settings on max detail and got a playable framerate with my HD2900XT OCed a little bit. This was with a 3.34ghz quad core to.

COD4 is a different story, it will play on alot lower speced machine...
