my mate finished stalker with pretty much the same rig as yours oldman_gamer, and he had no probs, he did have a 2gb of ram tho (i think). see if a friend has an old ati 9550 lying around that you could borrow (or keep), coz that runs it just fine, but make sure you set it to static lighting and mimimum graphic settings as well as a lower res. the static lighting uses dx8 and will give you way better frames, and will let the game run on practically any gpu. you will still get random drops in the fps, but thats not your gpu, thats a memory leak issue with the game itself and cant be fixed.
hope ths helps

You need more ram. For my stalker was unbearable with 1GB, would always do you like described. I actually never even finished the game, or got past the first level, because I didn't have money to get more ram.

Your GeForce 6200 is more powerful then the FX5700 in DX9, I'd imagine by quite a bit to. The FX series were kinda rigged to display direct x 9. I owned an FX5200, and a Radeon 9600. Both had the same amount of ram, similar core clocks, and the same amount of pixel pipelines. In direct x 8, they were about the same performance wise, but the 9600 just destroyed the FX in DX9.

But anyways, if you can get some more ram cheap, stalker will love you

Can I or should I say would it be safe to overclock the card, would it help?
Should I let the card "tune" my system for best perfomance?I have never done anything like that and dont need to mess this system up ,I need to stay connected.

LOL I live out in the sticks, dont have any friend with puters anywhere near or far that would even be as up to date as me.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

nope, OCing an old video card like that will liekly end up with a dead video card... its better to get a replacement and keep the old one as a backup...

Overclocking a GeForce 6200 would be like putting flames and pinstripe details on a golf cart... It's still going to be a golf cart!
Plus, as screwballl mentioned, those cards are not designed for high clock speeds, so something is likely to go wrong very soon. Overall, the whole overclocking procedure on that card is just not worth it.

STALKER has the same problem as you described on my system too, which is more then adequate to run it. Random freezes, but without the blacking out. Make triple sure you have the latest patches for it, as out of the box the game has horrible performance and bad glitches on any system.

Good call Stormcrow. Here is the download section for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. patches; make sure you have everything updated.

I loaded the patches and it seems worse now....im gonna sell the game...I think I could get to like the game if I could play it for more than 10 min.I get agitated and cant get into it when it consistantly freezes and goes black for 2 or 3 seconds.Im not even going to try it on my new rig for fear of it fudgin it up.
The game I really really really want is Crysis!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to be able to play that.Thats my kinda game!!
