| The Real Final Word | Oh wow, didn't know that!!! My experience is not even close to that, I mean I have been in some sort of that type of trade most of my life, My dad was a machinist and a jig builder for Boeing for lots of years, and had all the toys and tools in our own garage, so I did a lot of learning from him and then got into it myself at about 18 or so. Did that off and on until I was late 20's and then went into the construction trades. I really have missed the machinist trade though, it is neat to take a piece of raw metal and make something out of it. |

| I'm third generation machinist. My grandfather made the molds for the model T's fenders and my dad did it his whole life. I tell ya what though after 35 years it was seldom that I saw anything new. I ran everything from large horizontal boring mills that were sitting on 8 feet of reinforced concrete to a Hardinge tool room lathe that could hold tolerance's of .0001. |
