| Just out of curiosity, did any of you play the first Crysis, and if so... did you like that? Just trying to understand what you don't like about Wars! |

| Yes I played the first crysis. There are older games that play better online than crysis wars. |

| Functional Alcoholic | Too Bad it's not working I at least wanted to try it out. I am not going to call EA to play the game for one damn weekend. Oh well Leave it to EA F*** up a free weekend. I thought about buying the game if I enjoyed it, but once again EA lost another sale from me. I am thinking about Boycotting their games all together. I have never not had a problem with their games. At least when Steam has a free weekend it works. |

| ^^^ Agreed, I hated steam when it first came out but so far it's worked great and I can download my games anytime with it. |

| ^ That's not necessarily true.... if you have an external hard drive or absurdly huge SDHC card you can simply copy the Steam directory (in its entirety) to that drive for backup. I do it to put all the games on each of the gaming rigs without having to hemorage bandwidth again. I do agree in a way with Hitman, EA really cock things up in the persuit of profits. EA USED to stand for quality in the very early days, but that seems to have long since died and now they are just vultures buying all potentially good games, and spewing out a bastardized version (not a swear word). I don't think I'll be buying anymore games carrying the EA logo! As for Steam.... I must say that until recently I've loved it! Every time they do a free trial, it works as expected. Only problem is their latest update has removed the ability to have the same account logged in on multiple machines (Even on a local network) which means I can no longer run dedicated servers. Ah well, hopefully they'll change it later! Hitman, have you looked to see if there's a Crysis Warhead + Wars DEMO version anywhere? I haven't looked personally, but I don't see why there shouldn't be one! |

Last time I checked u could run a dedicated server without having bought the game on the account Just make a new steam account and you'll get the dedicated server files. or run Linux and do this: How to run a dedicated Steam server on your Ubuntu box - Countestrike style|ArsGeek its super easy. ![]() ![]() | |

| I did make a new steam account, but Crysis Wars Dedicated server is NOT on the Steam games list (it's a seperate exe in the game folder, but still requires Steam to run and thus the account to match). I will however read the link you gave and look into this further. Thanks for the advice and info.... I'll let you know if it works for me :) I don't want to hijack this thread in any way, so let's leave the discussion at this. |
