There's a nice list of freeware games on this site too:

XP Games

It's made from the same person who wrote the "Optimize XP guide". Cheers

Oh jeebus, can't believe I didn't tell you guys about this Quake 2 engine based game (more precisely a heavily modded Quake 2 engine that was released for free). It plays more or less like Quake 3 except the community is super friendly and not as dead. :D
Warsow*–*A Fast Paced First Person Shooter Game

You can dash, walljump, trick around and explode pigs :D

I found a great game...thanks to Maximum PC Mag. It's called Bomb attack! by maxem software. You can download the game here. Parental warning: Lots of violence (killing AI bots via bomb blasts).

I have played the game and it's very addicting. If you've ever played any game of the Bomberman series, you'll have a basic idea of the game. If not, it's easy to learn and fun to play. You basically set down bombs to blow up walls that are in your way, and which hide the exit to the next level as well as power-ups. You can either wait until the bombs self-destruct, or you can use the Ctrl key to detonate them. You have to avoid Death look-alikes while doing this, but I recommend trying to attract them into a bomb blast. Don't get caught by them or the blast of a bomb, cause it will cost you a life.

god I hate fileplanet... I am looking for that elsewhere.. will be nice to have it all on one disc rather than the different cases, especially since i already have most of the pre-EA versions...

Found a torrent online, make sure it is the free version and not a cracked version!!

I downloaded a free game today from steam, called trackmania nations forever or something like that.... it's practically a demo for the full version of trackmania, but it's got full multiplayer and a track editor and a painter for the car and stuff too.... it's pretty darn adicting.

Steam - Trackmania Nations Forever

Linkage for y'all, if you like racing games, it's worth trying out (kinda like burnout, but without traffic, and the tracks are insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

I have played Trackmania, was hooked on it for a few months before I started working from home... not like any other racecar game I had ever played before but very cool!
