Just like what happened with the Horizons MMO; the company that owned the rights to the game let it go and the game died. The players then moved on to a different MMO. It's unfortunate, but it does happen time to time.

Sure is enjoyable to see my thread directed to someone who might be interested in a game character devolve into an opinionated rant about whether or not you'd pay a monthly subscription fee.

Aww, come on Quake. There's no ranting here.

I agree with Garetjax here. I played WoW for a while and it didn't cost me that much in the end (approx. 60 dollars). After I got bored I sold it and made 150 off it. Not bad in my book. In the end, Garet is right. Its whatever makes you happy. ~30 per two months of play time is reasonable to me, but it might not be to someone else.

The cost just seems so excessive compared to playing any other game. $50 once and you can play any game for as many months and years as you want. But the MMO's cost like $30 or so to buy the game (similar to any other older game) and then charge you every month, totaling more than $150 if you play the game for a year. That's like a free mid-range video card every year! It just seems outrageous. But again, it's all perspective so we are all right...
