Opty 165? 3800+ X2? Expect low settings.
It's at 2.7Ghz. =]
This is a video of what it looks like on my system at medium settings and 1920x1200. Obviously I resized the video else it would have a few hundred of megabytes.
Here
Like I said for me it's close to unplayable. It's smooth, but 30fps just doesn't cut it.

Yes there is, I say 6350 instead of 6300 because of the 4MB cache does seem to help from what I have heard.
Hmmmm wait they renamed it... I'm sorry 6320, not 6350.... stupid Intel naming schemes... use 50 for everything else...

I did not see anything wrong or jumpy or skipping in that video. I have no idea what you are talking about. 30fps is not the end of the world and that looked just fine to me. Maybe you have some superhuman sensory that can actually tell the different between 30 and 35 fps but when actually playing the game, that is not something really worth basing you judgment on. If it bugs you that much then it is time to upgrade your computer. The rest of us are happy with how it plays and know that there may be limitations (such as medium or low settings, lower resolutions, etc) with our not-so-top of the line systems. We can't expect games with such high caliber graphics usage to run on high settings on a system like mine.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I think they use 50 if it has a 1333FSB, but I see what you mean...

LOL, you threw a turtle! But seriously, I don't see anything wrong with the FPS... Looks like it's playing great it me.

BTW, how's that Xeon? I was think of getting one of those instead of a Q6600 when I upgrade...
I have not really had the time to fiddle much with the chip. Right now it's at 2.93GHz. The Quad Core Xeon is a big step up from my E6400....I hope the game is CPU dependent because this quad core is ready... The demo is 78% done so only a matter of time.

I can actually tell the difference, I guess it all depends on your perceptions. That's not so bad, take into consideration i'm just there, throwing a turtle. When stuff starts exploding around my framerate takes a drop.

ok then that means that your precious Opty is not up to the task of this game, regardless if it is @ 2.7GHz, time to upgrade or not play the next generation games!
With my similarly specced machine except with E6600 @ 2.4GHz, I had none of the problems you mentioned.

Well i finished the demo. I ran at 1024x768 because I only have a 17" monitor. I played with most settings on high, a few on medium and 2xAA and was getting maybe an average of 50fps...

That's a curious assumption you're making there. While the C2D performs very nicely, the A64 X2 era is no slouch either. I can understand my computer is not the most up to date but I'd expect a little better than that.

And honestly, when I see benchmarks of Crysis all around the web, I have a hard time justifying changing my motherboard, CPU, RAM and while at it my video card to get a slightly better framerate on what looks to be a piece of software that can put the most expensive gaming rigs on their knees and begging for retaliation.
I'm not going to lower my resolution, play with a blurry, less than sharp picture just to put some eye candy on there. Something is awfully wrong if no one can actually run the game properly, and so far it seems like I'm not the only one having concerns about Crysis performance whether on Windows XP or Windows Vista, DirectX 9 or DirectX 10.

Besides, the auto-detect button in Crysis puts my settings to medium, a setting I find unplayable at my monitor resolution. It seems this function does not take the resolution into consideration but simply identifies the video card, processor and amount of RAM (and then again, I'm not sure it does the last two...)

I'll be waiting for a more final version of Crysis and hopefully this one yields slightly better results. Maybe a driver update would help too, who knows.

On the other hand, that game looks promising. The story line reminds me a bit of The Call of Cthulhu though.
It's good fun though, and that nanosuit thing is a good toy to play with. Oh and you can throw turtles.

Crytek have actually said the hardware to fully utilitize Crysis is not even available yet.... Some people with very high specs are reporting terrible framerates with similar hardware as those thatr report ok'ish framerates. I think itt has some kind of memory leak but that said remembering this is a pre release demo hopefully it will have gotten some optimization before it went gold yesterday

X6800 @ 3.6Ghz
Asus P5K Premium
Leadtek 8800GTX @ 659/960
2gb OCZ Spec Ops @1066 5/5/5/15
