WOW
that game is amazing looking so far
of course I will not be buying it, it is an EA game... that and there enough there to seem like it is just an updated Far Cry mixed with CS:S.

I played through the entire first chapter that the demo lets you play until that thing rips through the boat. I tried playing about half the chapter with all settings on high, no AA at 1440x900 and it looked amazing but was just way to laggy/choppy so I turned it down to everything at medium and it played nicely. There is a noticeable difference between high and medium but it is all graphical. Another thing that I thought was great is the destroyable buildings (try driving a truck through one, its fun) and being able to drive and shoot at the same time.
I did see some video artifacts in different spots but this is a beta/demo release so it can be expected.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

On one hand, I am happy that the game is so advanced with features and effects that it looks amazing; but when a top of the line system available today can't even play it with all the eye-candy it steals all the excitement away. I guess this is one of the few cases where the software is actually ahead of the hardware!
Maybe this game will be fun to play.... Next year...

thats the question though, looking at my system specs versus his, he should have been able to play it the same as I did.. but he didn't, so that means there is something else to blame with his system whether it is a windows issue or drivers or even this demo doesn't like something in his system.
With mine at 1440x900, no AA and all at medium, I saw no chop, no lag, no slowdowns of any kind. Even crashing my humvee through a building with 6 guys shooting at me with all the sparks and building collapsing, it never slowed down for me. The only issue like I mentioned was a few spots of artifacts/tears likely relating to it being beta software.

What the crap...I got Far Cry for free from AMD, and my system back then was a Athlon 64 2800+ at 1.8GHz, 512mb DDR400 and a Geforce FX 5500..and it still played well, even upwards of medium at 800x600. Now with the rig in my sig, I can barely hold 30FPS average in World in Conflict with it set to the highest details. If this is the case with Crysis and people using overclocked quads and GTX's I'll pass. Seems odd though, the game was supposed to scale pretty well from low settings on the 6800s through Medium on the 7900s and highest on the 8800s. Perhaps being a demo the engine is not scaling as well as the final release will.

OK, great! Please report back on it runs on your system...

BTW, how's that Xeon? I was think of getting one of those instead of a Q6600 when I upgrade...

Tried the demo myself. X1900XTX (X1900XT but at XTX speeds) and everything else like in my sig w/ Catalyst 7.9 I put my resolution to 1920x1200. No AA, and settings to low. Medium is in my opinion unplayable because I get around 30fps.

Crysis does seem to be very CPU dependent as well, my CPU temp was in the upper 50s (ºC) for both cores almost the entire time playing this game. I don't think that anything less than a E6320 will be able to handle it well even at medium settings.
Opty 165? 3800+ X2? Expect low settings.

Thanks HL and Corsair!
