| Ok looking around the net you will probably need to get newer drivers for your Video card. LaptopVideo2Go & NVIDIA Related News this is a good link to the best drivers for Laptops GPUs "For the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead..." | It's most likely the drivers. Laptop manufacturers don't release updates unless they're guaranteed absolutely stable. While good for stability, this is terrible for just-released games. I'll bet your current driver runs some 100 series driver and not the 150 or 160's. I had the same problem with my Dell (the same setup as yours, except with 1GB of RAM) and BioShock. Further research tells me that my suspicions were true. Acer lists the 101.38 drivers as the most current one on their download list. (PDF List). What I did to solve this problem is to install modded drivers. I found them here. All the modded drivers that I've tried have worked for me. I'm currently using the 169.04's. You'll have to install the modded INF file which is just a cut-and-paste affair. Instructions are here. Oh, and I'm not sure if you've tried already, but the drivers from Nvidia's site don't work for mobile GPUs. This is why you need modded drivers, if you want the latest drivers possible. FYI I've sampled the 100 series, 150 and 160 release drivers already, multiple times for each series. Haven't had any trouble with stability thus far. Also, the latest 160 drivers (167 and up) reintroduced overclocking for most GPU's, so if anyone's interested... :) Opty 165 @ 2746 MHz (305x9, 1.32V) Stock cooler | DFI nF4 LanParty Ultra-D | G.Skill DDR500 3-3-2-7 2x1GB | NEC 3540A | MSI X800 XL (Stock) | Antec Super LanBoy | Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W | WDC 800JB + Seagate 7200.9 400GB (IDE) | Logitech MX510 | In need of upgrading: Samsung SyncMaster 955DF Last edited by OCNoob; November 11th, 2007 at 10:32. |
