| the whole cult of Melee is basically what all the nintendo fanboys try to justify buying a gamecube version 2. yes i have a wii, my parents wanted me to get them one to play wiisports cause they saw the ads and what not, but they stopped playing it 2 weeks after getting it. |

Kinda like a PS3 huh. Still, the Wii is the best non-pc gaming whatchyamajigga IMO. Close second is the Xbox, but with the failure rate, don't cut it for me. the PS3.. lol... Brawl did get a 9.5 from IGN, a 95% on GameRankings.com, and an average of 95 on all major (not counting Nintendo-funded/biased) ratings sites. So apparently its not just the Nintendo Fanboys then, is it? | |

| Colonel Calamity | yes it is a fun game and in mine there is only one character not unlocked (clock something guy) but I haven't really played it that much (and when I got the system and 12 games for free they were already unlocked ) ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Let me ask you, just being totally impartial here, do you think that the Wii's success is based on the games released or the novelty of the wiimote? The game don't get me wrong, smash brothers for the N64 was one of my fav games, i never really got into melee (was too busy playing fifa) and brawl im sure is a great game for what it is, but from what everyone says its basically an updated version of melee with more characters. Zelda TP for the Wii was really delayed by nintendo specifically so they could use it as a launch title, it was completed for GC release a year earlier. The PS3 sales are going up mainly because of the Blu-ray support, games still haven't really released to catch peoples eyes, me included. My PS3 gets a little more action than my Wii in terms of gaming, but I watch DVDs/Bluray on that thing every night when there's no sports game on while im running on the treadmill. I'm just saying the Wii's "scarcity" is in part to the wiimote's success and also due to the resellers gobbling up wiis as soon as they hit the market. I know in asia there isn't this shortage, I was even in taiwan during launch year last dec, and places had them in stock (marked up a bit or made you buy bundles, but still available). Anyway, i'll see about my Brawl tomorrow when i pick it up from gamestop, but i'll prob just be playing WoW or C&C3, my consoles only really get game time if im playing an RPG or if buddies come over for some multiplayer. Oh and i've been playing FF7 on my PSP and Apollo Justice on the DS, its kinda funny, having all these console systems (GC, PS2, PSX, PS3, XBox, Wii, N64, Dreamcast, Saturn, Famicom) and i play the most my PSP, DS, and PS2 still. All 2nd to my PC though. |

| Colonel Calamity | I think it all depends on the options a person has. For more hardcore and mature gamers (such as from my generation that was raised on Commodore64 and Atari), there will be a much higher percentage of Xbox and PS3 sales with maybe a Wii for the kids and parents/grandparents. but due to the wide range of age groups for the Wii, it is the sales leader. I mean hell, my grandmother, my parents, several of my aunt/uncles and cousins have a Wii. The wife and I are looking to get one mostly for my 5 year old who has almost mastered most of the Gamecube games we have that we let her play due to age (I have my games like NFS:Most Wanted and 007 and more adult type games that we don't let her play). The problem in my local area has been availability. Since its release, if you are not there within 20 minutes of the stockers putting it on the shelf, you will not get one. They sell so fast here. Due to the slow death of HD-DVD coupled with the history of the 360, I bet the sales will slow down a great deal soon and PS3 sales will start to go up quite a bit as people sell off their 360s for a PS3 if not only for the HD content. As word spreads about the Wii with the Baby Boomers, sales will continue to stay high for at least another year or two before it starts leveling off or dropping. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! Considering I've used a gamecube controller more than a WiiMote, I can't be impartial. But I do agree with you on the fact that a WiiMote's ingenuity is making the Wii sell better. But that doesn't change the fact that it does sell better. Anyway, good luck getting Brawl. The shops here say they won't have em in for a couple weeks unless you had a pre-order. | |

| Level 2 College Student | Nice. Did where ever you preorder from have a tournament last night too? I didn't go to the tournament, nothing but annoying people came out of it, but its all good. I got to see a fight, and it was ridiculous (had nothing to do with Brawl either). There was a guy there shooting a documentary for his Film class on campus, and then there was another guy who was (we all believe) to be on something. We will call him "person A" So his friend tried to drag him away but he was like "Get the F* off me!" and hit his friend in the face, so his friend just left him. Then person A walked up to the guy with the camera, and grabbed him by the collar and was like "I DONT LIKE BEING FILMED, GOT IT?" and then the cameraguy was like "hmm... I don't like where this is going" and then gave his multiple-thousand dollar camera to his friend, and proceeded to try and talk his way out of getting into a fight. Person A proceeded to throw a punch, which cameraguy dodged, and Person A then grabbed the cameraguy. They both fell to the ground, with Person A on top, attempting to beat him down. However, the cameraguy was quite fit, and also knew Ju Jitsu, so he proceeded to womperstomp Person A, giving him a bloody nose and forcing him to give up and run away without throwing a punch (he had him in some sort of crazy ass headlock with his elbows, and his feet wrapped around his back). The cameraguy came out with possibly a bruise on his elbow, where Person A is forever known as 'that one guy who got pwned by the guy with the camera without receiving any punches at all" lool ANYWAY, it was about 1 when we got back to our dorm and we (my RA included) played it till about 4-5, then my room mate and I played it until about 8. And then I just woke up, and now we're gonna play it some more. PS: Ike is an amazing character. Probably my new Captain Falcon. We unlocked two or three people last night, and I dispatched them without receiving any damage. |
