| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | I think we've already touched on the differences....repeatedly.......like the different testbenchs and testing methods, like the thermal compounds, etc. the variation is not that great when you take everything into consideration INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU |

I have seen plenty of ODD numbers from reviews in my life and know how it goes. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Ed, I don't think anyone here thought you were implying that.....but its a good topic of conversation....look around at different web sites and you'll see several different results using the same, and sometimes different hardware....there are a lot of variables that go into each and every test.......which is why I sent Matt every cooler I had INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU |

| Modder-ator | Different processors, different testing environments, different TIM, different installation process. As already mentioned, all of this can (and will) make a difference in results and could easily account for a 7șC difference here and there. Don't want to beat a dead horse, but I just wanted to toss in my $0.02 and agree with Capper that different results from different hardware and testing environments is a good thing to help give a better idea of just how the cooler is likely to perform for the typical person. |

Ed, nothing was directed at you or anyone else personally. I know that nobody was even close to being accusatory of anything like that. Essentially, I was just saying that the numbers are what they are here, and I was basically just stating how nice it is to have a review site that leaves out the BS. On top of it all, I, myself, even thought the numbers a bit ODD at first, which is why I did multiple retests. I was not surprised that some people mentioned being surprised with the results. But they are what they are. | |

| My results were very similar to the reviews when I tested it on my workbench. The 9700 did much better than the V1 and the typhoon did similar to the V1 but losing to the 9700. I was using a Smithfield Pentium D. That thing runs hot, 130w IIRC. There is a point where heatpipes become less efficient. Also, The Max Orb has much less fin area than the V1 or the Typhoon. So far, the reviews Ive seen are that in a case, the V1 does better compared to the competition and in open air test benches, the V1 doesnt do as well but still does a great cooling job. I use a V1 at home in my Aguila case and it runs nicely. |

| My testing for another article has also shown the 9700 providing better cooling than the Big Typhoon VX but it was VERY close in most of the testing, within a degree or two centigrade. However there was an instance where the VX won and that was when the coolers where tested in a properly configured thermal advanatge case with the CPU vent placed correctly, then the VX won.
