thermal compound/grease/paste recommendations - Page 2

Arctic Silver 5 is the popular choice and a longtime favorite, but there are several worthy options to choose from. Back in November, we reviewed Tuniq's TX-2 compound, which edged out the AS5 by a few degrees in almost every test situation (I'm currently running using it myself).

Bottom line is, any of the high quality pastes out there will do a good job, just make sure you don't over-apply.

Let me add to this by saying these two thermal compounds are non-conductive....which means there is zero chance of you shorting out your hardware....there is also no cure time. MX-2 is also good for 8 yrs, while silver based thermal compounds are electrically conductive and need to be replaced on average every 18-24 months.

The TX-2 is non-conductive, non curing too, though I have no idea of it matches the 8 yr lifespan.

I've got some MX-2 sitting here waiting for my next install. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

add the TX-2 to the list.....there are just too many good options to be using AS5 anymore, theres almost no difference in performance, no cure time, and the non-conductivity issue.

I don't really like the AS Creamique for some reason. So hoping this MX-2 will satisfy me. I'll put the TX-2 on my next order and try that out.

Non-conductivity is good.

I've only ever used AS5 or AS Ciramique, but this AC MX-2 sounds really good. I may have to try it out...

When I get some I might do a little review/comparison... just don't expect anything too big, or anything at all for that matter.

Lol, I'll do the same. I've got some AC7 sitting here, so when i get my rig built i'll do a comparison too.
