Ahh, OK thanks for the clarification... didn't know that when I started this thread.

So will there be a new cooler for the regular non-extreme edition CPUs? Or are they still using the previous version:

I'm guessing they'll still use the old ones if my statement is true. I mean, the article didn't really give us much to chew on, just nice pics. :)

Well, at least the cooler is pretty! Looks like it should reduce temps by a smidge; the surface area looks like it's increased a lot.
That makes more sense actually. I know if I paid that ridiculous amount for an "Extreme Edition" processor I would be excited to see pretty lights on it!
But I guess that's why I'll never buy an EE anyway... :dontknow:

Doesn't really make sense to me, because anyone getting an Extreme Edition CPU probably won't be running the stock cooler on it... I wouldn't anyway!

Eh, you'd be surprised how many people I've seen with super high-end systems (like with an Extreme Edition processor) are posting on forums and stuff that only know what they have because they can read it off the invoice. Just think of all those Dell XPS owners who will so excited to have another blue light inside their case!

Naw, Dell's have their own very quiet air-cooling that works quite efficiently. Honestly, a better cooler is the least that Intel could do for their boutique buyers.

Well like I said, AMD gave us coolers with heatpipes. You really need the blue lighting? :P

Edit: Oh and like Intel, AMD isn't giving heatpipe coolers on all processors. Only on big models. =]
Edit 2: OCNoob is right about the XPS, they got quite decent cooling (which is to be expected though). The other Dell systems however...

DUDE, ADD NEONS. MORE NEONS = FASTER CPU YO
:P

It's an OK move. A move that had to be expected though, as the stock heatsink wasn't really doing it's job fine with the quads.

That's seriously what most of the kids at my school believe. No joke.
